oh my gosh me toooo i feel like i have no creative writing skills after being stuck in ap writing classes that only focused on rhetorical analyses ugh

I’m so so cynical about the way the education system teaches writing—just in general I think it has so many issues that should be reworked. I mean, I understand the value of using certain systems to help kids figure out basic organization skills and whatnot, like the classic essay style: Intro, Paragraph Point 1, 2, 3, Conclusion. I know some kids need that help because if you just give them some prompt, there’s no way they could do it without a “template” to start them off.

But by the time I was in my senior year of high school in a college writing class, I was still being FORCED to write in a canned format, and when I didn’t subscribe to that, I made lower grades on my assignments. Even in college, most of my writing assignments have been written so clinically there’s no room for creative thinking.

I just get so discouraged sometimes when I read fiction novels and the words are just… put together so beautifully, with such finesse and skill. And then I compare it to my work which all seems so flat and ‘declarative.’ UGH. I just wanna tear my hair out sometimes that schools can’t/don’t teach kids not to be afraid of breaking “the rules” sometimes. Not all writing has to have rules. I feel like I’m stuck in this box that I can’t break out of because it’s been drilled into my brain since I started school.

Ugh, sometimes I just really don’t like my writing style.

google and youtube merging is the stupidest thing the internet ever did

christ. i want to start using a gmail account but i can’t because my youtube account is linked to a google account that was created back during the merge with my yahoo address.

but since you can’t fucking change the primary email on a google account, i’m stuck with the old, stupid yahoo address my 13-year-old self made that i don’t even use anymore.

and just making a new google account and setting up automatic email forwarding won’t work because i still can only be logged in to one at a time, so if i want my current YT account, i’d have to log out of my gmail account, and i’d have to switch back over and over unless i used two different broswers.

it just shouldn’t be this goddamn complicated. i’ve spent hours trying to figure this shit out and i can’t and i want to throw things and punch people and i s2g if yahoo buys tumblr and this shit happens again i’m going to detonate with fury

It draws Kurt silent for all of three seconds before he’s sobbing into the phone, loud and uncontrollably and Blaine knows that he’s trying so hard to keep it a little together, to catch his breath, but Blaine doesn’t blame him for not being able to. It’s like all the air in Blaine’s lungs has left him, has thickened into pure, red-hot rage instead. He’s sweating, shaking, and trying not to yell again, but his voice still comes out dark when he says, “Stop making excuses for him.”
